Description
North Lodge to Thornton House is a lodge built in 1895 by Grayson and Ould. It features a timber-frame structure set on a stone base, topped with a stone slate roof. The building is one storey high with an attic and consists of two bays, showcasing a jettied first floor. The windows are adorned with leaded glazing. On the ground floor, there are five-light canted oriel windows with transoms, while the first floor includes gabled dormers with projecting three-light windows and jettied gables. The entrance is marked by a gabled porch with a cambered opening and side panels that have splat balusters; the door is designed with vertical strips and leaded lights. The lodge has cross-axial and gable-end stacks. The right side facing the street features a jettied gable, and the rear includes a projecting gabled bay, a dormer, and a walled yard with a privy.
