Description

This public house, later converted into a house, was likely built around 1830. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a concrete tile roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the central bay projecting forward. A stone base, a sill band on the first floor, wide eaves and verges, and a gable above the central bay are notable exterior features. The windows have wedge-shaped lintels and contain sash glazing bars. The first-floor window in the central bay has a pointed arch at its head. A central, pointed-arch entrance is framed by an inset doorcase featuring Tuscan columns and a blind fanlight. The side returns display tall, pointed-arched windows. The building was likely constructed in connection with the nearby St. Helens Junction railway station.
