Description
The Dock Master's Office, formerly known as the Watchman's hut, is a building located on the sea wall south of Victoria Tower. It was constructed in 1848 by Jesse Hartley. The structure is made of granite rubble and features two storeys with three bays on the front and one bay on the sides. The walls are battered, and there is a bracketed parapet with battlements. The windows have four-centred arched heads, with the end bays on the west side being paired. The windows on the west and north sides have label moulds, and those on the first floor have foliated stops. There are entrances on the north, east, and south sides, all featuring four-centred arches and label moulds, with the entrance on the south side being dated. Most of the window frames are missing, and the interior includes brick segmental vaults.
