Description
Nos 3 and 4, Great George Place, were formerly the North and South Wales Bank, built in the 1860s. The building is constructed of stone with a slate roof and features three storeys, a basement, and an attic, arranged in four bays, with the central bays projecting forward under a gable. It is designed in the Victorian Gothic style.
The ground floor includes windows and a door, all featuring cusped pointed arches with foliated capitals on the corner columns, and there is a decorated frieze above. The first floor has four windows with stone mullions and transoms, each with cusped tympana that display the shields of England, Ireland, Liverpool, and Wales; the central shield bears the initials 'NSWB'. There is evidence of a central balcony that has been removed.
On the second floor, there are four pointed arched windows, also cusped, with the middle two being double windows. The top features a pointed gable with a pointed arched attic window that has two lights and a rose in the head. The roof is a pavilion style with stone stacks, and there are decorative iron area railings. As of 1984, the windows were boarded up.
