GREAT GEORGE PLACE, Ll Nos 3 and 4

II Former North and South Wales Bank. 1860s. Stone, slate roof. Three storeys, basement and attic four bays, centre bays break forward under gable. Victorian Gothic. Ground floor windows and door, all with cusped pointed arches with foliated capitals to corner columns. Decorated frieze above. First floor has four windows with stone mullions and transoms, cusped tympana with shields of England, Ireland, Liverpool and Wales; central shield has initials 'NSWB'. Evidence of central balcony (removed). Second floor has four pointed arched windows, cusped, the middle two double. Top pointed gable in middle with pointed arched attic window of two lights with rose in head. Pavilion roof with stone and stacks. Decorative iron area railings. Windows currently (1984) boarded.
