Description
The Kennels at Croxteth Park, built in the 1870s by J. Douglas, is a single-storey structure made of red brick. It features a distinctive roof made of blue and green slate with tile cresting. The building has three bays, with the first two serving as kennels. The central entrance is flanked by three-light windows that have leaded lights. The roof includes two iron louvres for ventilation.
The end bay is taller and has a steeper, half-hipped roof with a gablet on the left side. This bay contains a gabled four-light window with leaded upper panes. The right side of the building has a three-light window beneath a projecting tie beam and a smaller window under the half-hip. The entrance features an arch-braced timber frame, and inside the porch, there is a bench and a recessed door. To the right of the entrance, there is a boxed pump and a stone trough located under a window. A clustered brick stack is also present.
At the rear of the building, there are entrances to the kennels and small windows. The property includes exercise yards and a paddock, which are enclosed by iron railings.
