Description
The stable block located to the north and west of the stable yard at Croxteth Park is a Grade II* listed building, originally constructed as stables and coach houses, now serving as residences. It features dates of 1676 on the south facade and 1706 on the east facade. The building is made of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof, designed in an L-shape over two storeys.
The structure has a stone base and quoins, with segmental-headed windows that have brick flat arches; the first-floor windows are fitted with sliding sashes. The entrances also have segmental heads and stone surrounds, and date plaques display the Molyneux arms. The west facade includes blocked oval ventilation holes and a bay defined by quoins, which features a blocked segmental-headed cart entrance. There is a small cottage attached to the outer angle, dating from the early 19th century. At the north end of the building, there is a clock tower with a square base and a cupola supported by six columns, topped with a weathercock in the shape of a fighting cock.
