Description

5 and 7 Hope Place are a pair of early 19th-century houses. They are built of brick with stone dressings and have a slate roof. The houses are three storeys high, plus a basement, with two bays each. The basement is stuccoed and has a stone lintel band. A sill band, top frieze, cornice, and blocking course run across the facade. All windows are sash windows with wedge lintels and no glazing bars. Number 5 has a canted bay window on the ground floor. Both houses have round-headed doorcases with panelled pilasters and consoles, leading to four-panel doors. Number 5 has iron railings to the area, steps, and garden. Panelled stone gate piers with cornice caps mark the entrance.
