Description
This building is a lodge located at 48 Childwall Abbey Road, dating from the early 19th century and likely designed by John Nash. It is constructed of stone and features two storeys with three bays, where the first bay is lower and recessed. The lodge has a top drip mould and an embattled parapet. The windows are small-paned casements, while the second and third bays have lancet openings positioned above the roof level. There is a round-headed entrance in the first bay, situated to the right of a window. The building has chimneys located in the angles behind the parapet. On the right side, there are two ground floor windows, and the gate to the right is flanked by rusticated gate piers and paired iron gates designed in a Gothic style. This lodge was built as the entrance to Childwall Hall, which has since been demolished.
