Description
The outbuilding behind the Market House in Garstang is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the 17th century and originally used as a slaughterhouse. It features a cruck frame with sandstone rubble walls and a steep corrugated asbestos roof. The openings in the building have plain reveals. On the left side, there is a wide opening with an external sliding door, while to the right, there is a door accompanied by a window. At the far right, another door is covered by a wooden lean-to. Inside, there are two cruck trusses, with the left-hand truss being more visible. This truss includes a tie beam with curved braces connecting to the principals, a collar, and a yoke positioned below the apex.
