Description

La Mancha is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of handmade brick in an irregular bond, with a sandstone plinth, cornice, and blocking course. The roof is slate, and hipped at the right. The house has two storeys and five bays, spaced unevenly. The windows are casements with margin lights, each with a brick hood. The front door consists of six sunken panels, set within a recessed brick doorcase. This doorcase features engaged fluted Doric columns and a segmental fanlight above a plain cornice with mutules. Chimneys are located in front of the ridge, to the left, to the right, and between the first and second bays. The interior staircase has an open string, stick balusters, and a wreathed handrail. Several interior doors are made of mahogany. The rooms to the left and right of the hall both feature fireplaces with Grecian detailing.
