Description
Lower Woodcock Farmhouse is a house built in 1671 and extended in 1764. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and has a slate roof, standing two storeys high. The original section, located to the west, features a double-chamfered three-light mullioned window that remains in both the north and south walls. The eastern section, marked by a plaque dated '1764' on its gable wall, now lies within the adjacent barn. This part has watershot stonework and flat-faced mullioned windows. Inside the original section, there are encased beams and a wattle and daub dividing wall. Notably, it includes an elaborately-carved spice cupboard with initials and the date '1671' in its east wall. The exact location of the original doorway is unclear but may have been through an earlier part of the building where the 1764 extension now stands. The 1764 section features axial beams.
