Description
Bell Sykes Farmhouse is a house dated 1787, as indicated by a plaque on the first floor. It is constructed of squared coursed sandstone and features a slate roof. The building has a double-pile central-entry plan with end stacks and stands two storeys tall with two bays. The windows are tripartite, surrounded by plain stone with square mullions, and the central lights are sashed. The front door is made of raised and fielded panels, framed by a plain stone surround and an open timber porch. The eaves project at the gables, showcasing shaped purlin ends. At the rear, to the left, there is a tall window with a plain stone surround and two transoms of square section. Beneath the lower window, the word 'DAIRY' can be seen through the current paintwork, likely originally inscribed to qualify for exemption from window tax.
