Description

Woodfields Farmhouse and No. 8 is a 17th-century house constructed of sandstone rubble, partly rendered, and topped with a slate roof. It stands two storeys high, with a cross wing on the south-west wall at its right-hand end. Each floor features a sashed window with a plain stone surround beneath a 17th-century hood. The gable is adorned with coping and kneelers.

The central recessed section includes a sashed window with glazing bars and a plain stone surround, with a door to its right that has a plain stone surround and retains a section of 17th-century drip mould. On the first floor, there is a three-light chamfered mullioned window with a hood. To the left, a two-storey gabled porch features coping and kneelers. The ground floor of the porch has a doorway with a plain surround, while the first floor has another three-light chamfered mullioned window with a hood. Adjacent to the porch is a later lean-to. The left-hand gable of the main house displays windows with plain reveals, a coping, and a brick chimney cap.

On the south-east wall of the cross wing, at the left-hand end, there is a three-light rebated and ovolo-moulded mullioned window on the ground floor, and a six-light mullioned and transomed window with inner hollow chamfer and outer chamfer on the first floor. To the right, a chimney stack is situated next to a two-storey gabled porch, which has a plain stone door surround with the inscription '-GA 1813' beneath a triangular moulded hood. Above this porch is a sashed window with glazing bars and a plain stone surround, with another sashed window to its right on each floor.

Inside, the main block features a chamfered and stopped firehood bressumer and heck post, with some of the studs of the spere visible. This spere originally shielded the entrance in the south-west wall, accessed through the porch.
