Description

The sundial, located approximately 5 metres south west of the south porch of the Church of St. Helen, dates back to 1686 and was restored in the 20th century. It is made of sandstone and has a square section. Each face of the sundial is inscribed near the top with the following: IV 16 WC WC and TP 86 EH TT. The shaft is chamfered, with vertical grooves on each face. The lower part of the shaft is a restoration dated 1932. Although the sundial has a plate dated 1707, this appears to be a 20th-century copy.
