Description

Nos. 13 and 14 Regent Street are a pair of small town houses built around 1860. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. Each house has a shallow double-depth plan and is double-fronted, featuring two storeys with three windows on each side, creating a symmetrical appearance. The buildings have a plain frieze and a moulded gutter cornice, which steps down slightly at the junction.

In the center of each facade is a through-lobby doorway, with the doorways featuring moulded architraves and cornices on consoles, along with panelled doors that have overlights; the door at No. 13 is lettered "REGENT HOUSE." The lobby doorway is quite small and has a plain surround. The windows have raised sills and wedge lintels; the windows at No. 11 are sashed without glazing bars, while No. 12 has 12-pane sashes. There are also heads of cellar windows on both sides and ridge chimneys. The rear of the houses has very shallow back yards.

Inside No. 14, there is an entrance hall with a stick-baluster staircase, a front parlour to the left, a small dining room to the right, a shallow scullery at the rear of the parlour, and a kitchen at the rear of the dining room, with some moulded plaster present. These houses match Nos. 11 and 12 to the left and Nos. 15 and 16 to the right, and they complement Nos. 2 to 8 opposite.
