Description
Hoarstones is a large house built in the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of stone with ashlar quoins and features a stone slate roof with moulded coping and kneelers. The building has two storeys and six bays. The front includes a two-storey gabled porch that has a moulded doorway and a panelled round hood supported by carved scroll brackets. There is a horizontal window under the hood and a square sash window above it. On either side of the porch, there are paired sash windows on each storey. To the left, there is a four-light window with sash windows, and above it, a three-light sash window. To the right of the porch, there is a two-storey bay with four lights, and a three-storey wing that is set back, featuring two two-light sash windows on the ground floor and four sash windows on each of the upper floors. The house has six chimney stacks.
