Description
Lane Head Farmhouse, built in 1742, is a two-storey house with an attic and a double-depth plan. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a steep tiled roof. The house has two bays, with windows that have plain stone surrounds and flat-faced mullions, typically consisting of two lights, except for the right-hand ground-floor window, which has three lights. The central door has a plain stone surround and is above which is a plaque inscribed with 'JBJ 1742'. The house has gable chimneys. Adjoining to the west is a barn, which likely dates from a later period and has a lower slate roof. The barn features a wide entrance with plain reveals and a segmental arch. To the left of the entrance are two windows with plain reveals, one of which is within a blocked doorway.
