Description

Dacrelands is a pair of houses, now functioning as a clinic and a house, built in the early 19th century and altered in the late 19th century. The structure is made of watershot coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof. It has a double-depth plan, with doorways and staircases located in the center and chimneystacks positioned between the front and back rooms.

The building stands two storeys tall on both the main and side facades, featuring a deep plinth, a first-floor sill band, a plain frieze, a moulded cornice, and a low blocking course. The main front has two bays for each house, with ashlar quoins on both ends. The central doorways are recessed and paired, supported by three unfluted Greek Doric columns that hold up a plain entablature. The right-hand door is panelled and includes an overlight with geometrical glazing bars.

On the left side of No.1, the windows have plain stone surrounds and 12-pane sashes, while No.2 features a later 19th-century two-storey square bay window on the right. The west-facing facade has three bays, with a central bow made of ashlar that contains three windows per storey; the central window on the ground floor has been modified to create a French window. The side bays also have plain stone surrounds and 12-pane sashes, with the bow windows being curved in plan.

Inside No.1, there is a central hall with two bowed walls. The rear bow contains a geometrical staircase but has been modified with the addition of partition walls.
