Description
These are mid-18th century houses, likely with a later raising of the eaves and conversion from non-domestic use. They are constructed of limestone rubble with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The houses are two storeys with an attic. The central portion appears to be the oldest, featuring a gabled stone porch, a two-light chamfered mullioned window thought to be of mid-18th century date to its right, a similar window on the first floor, and an attic window with plain reveals and glazing bars. To the right of this, a straight joint indicates a later addition, with two sash windows with cement reveals on the ground floor, a sash window on the first floor with reveals partly of brick, and a door with plain reveals at the far right. Chimneys are positioned on each side of the central portion. The right-hand gable has triple sash windows with plain stone surrounds and square mullions on both the first and attic floors. A later lean-to addition is visible at the rear, incorporating sash windows. The left-hand house has modern windows and doors with plain reveals. A straight joint on the left-hand side terminates at first floor window level, suggesting a roof raise, with evidence of blocked doorways also present. The interior of the central portion contains an 18th-century fireplace with jambs treated as pilasters, a fluted false keystone, and a cornice mantel.
