Description

This is a house dating to the late 17th century, with substantial alterations and additions in 1739. It is constructed of pebbledashed rubble with a slate roof. The house has a T-shaped plan, with a front wing facing south-east, a central entrance, and end stacks. It is two storeys high with attics. All windows are modern and have plain reveals. On the ground floor, there are windows on each side of a 1922 porch, with a former fire window located on the far left. The first floor has two windows on each side of a central slate plaque bearing the inscription "William Waithman and Dorothy his wife 1739" and decorated with incised floral motifs. The left-hand gable has one window, while the right-hand gable features a projecting stack and one window on the ground floor, along with two attic windows. The north-east wall of the rear wing has three ground-floor and two first-floor windows.

Inside, the left-hand front room contains a moulded fireplace with a grooved false keystone and a cornice mantel. A spice cupboard is likely a 20th-century reproduction. The front rooms are separated by panelling. The northern room of the rear wing is lined with large panels with grooved rails, likely dating from around 1700. A beam, possibly supporting a firehood, is located in front of a 20th-century fireplace, with an enclosed stair entrance at its south end featuring a panelled door and grooved pilaster strip.
