Description
69 and 71 Church Street is a pair of houses, now used as offices, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of sandstone ashlar with ashlar dressings, and have rubble at the rear. The building features a slate roof and a double-depth plan with coupled doorways in the center, flanked by gable chimney stacks. It stands three storeys above cellars and consists of three bays. The doors are set back within a stone doorcase that has three pilaster jambs supporting a deep frieze and a prominently projecting cornice. Each door has four raised and fielded panels with moulded borders, and above them are overlights, with the left-hand one featuring glazing bars. The windows have plain reveals; all are sashed with glazing bars, providing 12 panes on the ground and first floors and 9 panes on the second, except for the ground-floor window on the right, which has been widened to form a square.
