Description
Toll Bar House is a former toll bar house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed dressed sandstone and has a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan with four bays and a gable facing the road. It stands two storeys tall and is designed in the Tudor style.
On the south side, at the corner with the road, there is a gabled porch, which features a rectangular window on its side. The gable wall has two rectangular windows on the ground floor, with the left window being larger. On the first floor, there is a large arched window alongside a smaller rectangular window. All these openings have chamfered and moulded reveals, and most feature prominent hood moulds, although they are now blocked. The gable copings are supported by moulded kneelers.
