Description
Mill House, originally two cottages, dates from the early 18th century to the early 19th century and forms a stepped row up a slope. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble, with quoins on the left-end cottage, and features a stone slate roof across three levels, topped by four chimneys. All parts of the structure are two storeys high. The left-end cottage consists of one bay and is slightly canted, while the other two dwellings each have two bays with two windows on each floor. The right-end dwelling, known as Corn Hill House, has sashed windows with glazing bars, brick window heads, and a brick door surround, while the rest of the windows have been altered. The left-end cottage has a long rear extension that runs into the slope, where the ground floor of the rear bay contains a vaulted cellar with stone recesses and furnishings, possibly indicating it was used as a curing house. This building is included for its group value with Corn Hill House across the street.
