Description
This is a canal aqueduct built between 1795 and 1796, designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. It spans approximately 40 metres over the River Calder and is constructed from coursed dressed stone, with many blocks featuring shortbread vermiculation. The structure has a single semi-circular-headed arch supported by radiating voussoirs, with pilasters on either side. It also includes tapered wings, a squared string course, and squared coping.
