Description

The pier at the south-east corner of the forecourt garden is a garden feature dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar and features a lion of the Booth crest on a rectangular pier with a projecting base and cornice. Short walls with scrolled copings extend from two sides, marking the boundaries of the formal lawn. This pier is one of a pair and was installed to replace the forecourt walls that were removed to create an open view of the hall.
