Description
The Stretford War Memorial, located on Chester Road, was built in 1923 and designed by sculptors J. and M. Patterson. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a carved lion atop a tall, square, tapering shaft that stands on a base and stylobate. A bay leaf wreath is carved on the front, and there are inscriptions on either side that read "In memory of the heroic dead" and "They died that we might live," accompanied by the appropriate coats of arms.
