Description

The Dock Office is an office building dating from around 1925. It is constructed with a steel frame, faced with brick and render. The building is in a Stripped Classical style and is three storeys high, with a full attic storey. It has a large E-shaped plan with chamfered corners. The main block comprises nine bays on either side of a central entrance feature, clearly defined by the structural layout. Additional bays are located at the corners, and there are eastern and western wings of nine and eleven bays, respectively. A projecting entrance block rises to a stepped parapet above the attic storey. The central entrance features segmentally-arched doors and a full-height arched recess housing tripartite windows on each floor, flanked by narrower lights. Above the arch keystone is inscribed “Dock Office”. Bays flanking the entrance have steel-framed windows set within recessed panels with moulded aprons. A projecting cornice sits above this, with paired windows to each attic bay. The interior has not been inspected.
