Description
The staircase and exedra in Jubilee Park is a monumental structure built in 1906 by Edgar Wood. Made of sandstone, it features 21 steps that lead up to a semi-circular enclosure, which once housed a central fountain. This area includes seats and an inscription that reads: "Who works not for his fellows his thoughts grow poor and dwindle and his heart grudges each beat as misers a dole." The surrounding walls are designed with U-shaped cut-outs. The quality of materials, planning, design, and craftsmanship is of the highest standard. The steps lead up to the church and are aligned with the tower, enhancing the dramatic view from Long Street to the church situated on the hill.
