Description

The Statue of John Bright is a Grade II listed monument located in Broadfield Park, Rochdale. It commemorates John Bright, a Member of Parliament who died in 1889, and was erected in October 1891. The statue was designed by Sir William Hamo Thornycroft and is made of stone. It stands on a tapering square pedestal that features a cornice and a moulded base, positioned on a stylobate. The pedestal is inscribed on all sides with various quotes and insignia, including the phrase "Rochdale's greatest townsman." Originally, the statue was located in Town Hall Square.
