House. c1790, but refronted 1874. Brick with painted stone dressings, slate hanging on gables and stone flagged roof. 2 storeys, 3-window range. Central entrance in porch which runs between outer full-height squared bay windows. Shallow segmentally-arched architrave with 6-panelled door. Paired 12-pane sash windows in each bay with wider sashes to first floor, and narrow 12-pane sash over doorway. Moulded wood eaves band. Gable end stacks. Later lower hipped roofed wing recessed to right with inserted window to ground floor and doorway beyond. Single-storeyed early C20 addition to right of this. Small 2-storeyed extension to rear, with art-deco leaded glass to windows. INTERIOR: considerable traces of original decorative scheme survive, together with some early C20 re-interpretations. Entrance hall with reeded archway to stairs. Panelled doors throughout possibly original. Gilded plaster wall panels in northern room, plasterwork frieze and cornice. Similar frieze in northern first floor room. Other rooms have plaster panelled ceilings which are possibly early C20. Original fireplaces in principal rooms removed during renovation in 1991.
