Description
Hollinwood War Memorial is a granite cross that rises from a tall square plinth. At the center of the cross, the letters IHS are carved in relief. The plinth features an inscription dedicated to those from the parish who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars, which reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN/ THE GREAT WAR. 1914 – 1919./ AND IN THE WAR. 1939 – 1945."
The cross is integrated into the upper step of a two-stepped paved base. Behind the cross, set into the church wall beneath the west window, are two tiers of panels that list the names of the fallen from both World Wars. The top tier is recessed within Gothic-style tracery featuring foliate detailing and includes the names from the First World War, while the plain lower tier lists the names from the Second World War.
