Description
Eaglesfield is a mid-19th century villa that now serves as a hall of residence. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a hipped slate roof. The building has a square plan and stands three storeys high with three symmetrical bays. Notable architectural details include large rusticated quoins, deep sill-bands on all floors, and bracketed eaves.
The entrance is marked by a square flat-roofed porch with corner pilasters, a cornice, and a blocking course, leading to a round-headed doorway with pilaster jambs and a keyed moulded head, which is fitted with divided panelled doors. The ground floor boasts large tripartite windows with pilastered architraves and cornices, while the upper floors feature 4-pane sashed windows with moulded architraves; the first-floor windows have cornices, and the second-floor windows are shorter. There are two ridge chimneys. The left return side, which faces the garden, has matching window arrangements. The interior has not been inspected.
