Description
Dower House Cottage, located to the north of Heaton Hall, is a garden landscape building that likely dates from the early 19th century. It has been altered and reduced over time. The structure is built from sandstone ashlar and stucco, topped with a 20th-century pantiled roof. It has a rectangular plan and is designed in a classical style, resembling a pedimented temple front. The facade features Tuscan columns arranged distyle in antis, a plain entablature, and a moulded pediment. The inner wall is plain and painted white, with a modified central doorway. Each side wall contains one four-pane sashed window, along with an inserted 20th-century window above. The interior has also been altered.
