Schoolroom, now part laundry and part schoolroom. 1878, by Alfred Waterhouse; altered. Coursed squared sandstone, slate roof. Rectangular plan on north-south axis, plus smaller parallel range to rear projecting at north end. Perpendicular style. Single storey (altered internally by insertion of upper floor), 6 bays, with buttresses and sill-band carried round; gabled porch to 1st bay with moulded Tudor-arched doorway and panelled double doors up 5 steps; extruded chimney stack to 2nd bay tapered to tall octagonal chimney; transomed 3-light windows to the other bays with cusped lights; moulded corbels and cornice. Large transomed 4-light window in each gable wall, with Perpendicular tracery and hoodmould, and small 2-light windows above these; coped gables with crocket finials. Rear wing has two 3-light windows in gable wall and porch in angle. Interior: upper floor inserted at transom level; brattished wallplates, arch-braced kingpost roof with windbraces.
