Description
The Co-operative Society Building is an office building constructed between 1937 and 1942, designed by W.A. Johnson, who was the Chief Architect to the Co-operative Wholesale Society. It features buff and blue/purple brick with stone dressings and has a flat roof. The building stands seven storeys tall, with a continuous range of metal-framed casement windows on Dantzic Street. The front of the building slightly projects for five storeys and curves at the corners. The fifth floor includes a decorative cornice band, while the sixth floor is recessed and has vertical bands. Above this is a small services block. The ground floor has an entrance and windows that are separated by piers.
