Description
The Co-operative Society Building, located on Redfern Street in Manchester, was constructed in 1937 and designed by W.A. Johnson, who was the Chief Architect to the Co-operative Wholesale Society. This five-storey office building is made of buff brick and features a flat roof. It has continuous window ranges that consist of metal casements. The entrance on Redfern Street is notable for its curving glazed design. The Dantzic Street side of the building steps forward and has curving corners, with a tall stair and lift tower to the left. This tower includes an entrance, slit windows to the left, and vertical detailing in the windows and brickwork above. Additionally, there is a small services block located on the roof.
