Description
The Duke William Inn is a building dated '1737', although it is likely a remodelling of earlier structures and has undergone later alterations. It features a symmetrical design with painted stone and stands two storeys high. The façade includes two wide and widely spaced sash windows, a sign panel above the door, and flush quoins at the corners and all openings, with a stepped key above the door. The building has a stone gutter and a slate roof. There is a date stone above the rear door that may read '1662'. A rear-wing stable, probably from the 18th century, is constructed of hand-made red brick with stone gables, corner stones, and a stone slab roof. To the left, there is a later, taller two-window, two-storey extension made of rubble, which is not of special interest.
