Description
The United Reformed Church of St George Sunday School, now a Day Centre, was built in 1914. It features rusticated coursed and squared rubble in small blocks, with ashlar dressings and a Westmorland slate roof.
The building is two storeys high and has a ten-window range, with doorways on each side. The recessed doorway has steep chamfered arches and a hoodmould, with a shallow oriel above it. A steep segmentally arched window is set between canted pilasters above the doorways. The facade is enhanced by pilaster buttresses that rise to moulded panelled gablets between the first-floor windows. The windows on both floors are sharply recessed, with the lower windows having shallow segmental heads and the upper windows featuring steeper arches. A panelled parapet with a coat of arms in low relief is located at the centre, and there is a steep louvred turret at the roof's center. The interior has not been inspected.
