Description

The front wall and steps to Whitehall were built in 1835 by John Douglas senior and are made of buff sandstone in ashlar style. The wall is symmetrical, featuring a panel between square piers with fielded panels on a moulded plinth at either end. The center of the wall forms a shallow inward arc and is lower, also with fielded panels on the same plinth. In the center, there is a gateway with similar piers, although it does not have a gate, and it is approached by five steps. This structure is included for its group value.
