Description

Marton House Farmhouse is an early to mid-19th century farmhouse constructed of red Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. It is built in a Tudor Gothic style. The front of the house has three bays arranged symmetrically. It features an ashlar plinth and a central projecting porch with double 20th-century doors recessed in a four-centered arch with a hood mould above. Above the porch is a painted ashlar battlement with moulded crenelations. Either side of the porch are cross-windows, each with a hood mould; the lower sashes have 2 x 3 panes and the upper sashes have 2 x 2 panes. Similar windows are found on the first floor, with a stone band running along the level of their sills. The roof is hipped and has lateral chimney stacks. Single-storey wings extend to either side, also with battlemented tops in a style similar to that of the porch.
