Description
This T-shaped shippon at Hall Farm, dating from the 17th century, is located 30 meters south of the farmhouse. It is constructed from squared coursed local sandstone rubble and was converted from a small farmhouse with an attached shippon, resembling a longhouse farmstead. The house occupied the western half of the current building. The roof is covered with grey Welsh slate and features 'cat slide' projections that create the T shape, with flush gables. There is a moulded sandstone stringcourse at the first floor level along the western half of the southern front. A former doorway lintel displays a heart-shaped motif with the initials VH and the date 1688. The eastern side of the southern projection has two blocked openings from former small windows. The openings have been altered, now featuring rectangular vent-holes in the stonework for the hayloft. Additionally, there is a later brick lean-to shed with a grey slate roof on the eastern gable.
