Description
Proffit's Lodge is an early 19th-century square single-storey lodge cottage built from sandstone in a 'Gothick' style. It features a grey Welsh slate pyramid roof with a central brick chimney. The front porch has a projecting hipped roof and is flanked by pointed arched window openings with moulded surrounds, which are painted. Sandstone steps lead up to the front door, which is topped by a deep label-mould sandstone lintel. Proffit's Lodge may have originally served as a toll cottage on the route to the ferry head.
