Description
No. 76 Lower Bridge Street is a town house, now used as offices, likely built around 1800. It features Flemish bond brown brickwork, although the roof is not visible and may have been replaced. The building stands three storeys high and has two windows on the front facade.
The first storey includes a sandstone plinth with a blocked chute opening and three stone steps leading to a door made of four fielded panels above two flush panels, topped with a margin-paned overlight within a wooden doorcase that has panelled pilasters. There is also one 12-pane recessed sash window with a painted stone sill. The second storey has a sill band and two 12-pane recessed sash windows. The third storey features two 9-pane recessed sash windows with painted stone sills, all windows have wedge lintels, and there is a simple stone-coped parapet.
Inside, the dogleg stair, which has been partly replaced, features a swept rail, although the balusters are boxed on the upper flights. The front rooms on the second storey have cornices. The rear of the building has not been inspected.
