Description
Wychough Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably dating from the mid 17th century, constructed of oak and later extended and encased in brick, likely in the second quarter of the 19th century. It features a grey slate roof. The small framing with arch braces at the corners is only visible externally on the upper storey of the west face, above a 19th-century brick outshut. The building has two and a half storeys plus an attic in the west wing, with the 17th-century section forming a roughly T-shaped layout. The head of the T, located to the west, consists of two rooms, while the leg of the T contains one main room and a former dairy. The windows are arranged in an irregular pattern, with some later 20th-century replacements. A large brick chimney is present.
Inside, the main room of the east wing features chamfered oak beams and an inglenook with a bevelled oak bressumer. The staircase has been renewed, and there are small-framed oak partitions on both storeys. The oak roof structure includes wrought purlins with run-out stops in the north attic room, and a heavy ridge-piece that is diagonally set.
