Description

The shelter on the island platform at Helsby Railway Station was built in 1849 for the Birkenhead Lancashire and Cheshire Junction Railway Company. It is constructed from coursed rock-faced red sandstone and features grey slate roofs. The building is a single storey and is designed in a small-scale Jacobethan style. It has a cross-wing and a long wing, which are detailed to resemble the former stationmaster's house and the main station building.
