Description

The former coach house, now a private house, was built in 1904 and converted to residential use in 1948. Designed by Sir Charles Nicholson for HN Gladstone, it originally served Burton Manor. The building is constructed of coursed squared red sandstone, with weatherboarded dormers and a slate-clad clock tower. It is a single-story building with attics, comprising three bays. Ground floor windows are hopper lights with crossed glazing bars, set under rectangular lintels with face keystones. Two attic windows are two-light flush casements with glazing bars fixed as gabled half dormers; the third is a three-light version in a full gable. The clock tower has dials on two faces and a bird weather vane. The rear of the building features gabled ranges forming an F-shaped plan. The interior was completely remodelled during the conversion to residential use.
