Description
This building is a barn and attached farm building dating from the 17th century, located 50 metres south of Stretton Old Hall Farmhouse. The barn features an oak frame that is partly brick-nogged and has weatherboarding on the front gable and the upper storey of the sides. It stands on a sandstone plinth set on bedrock and has a grey slate roof. The frame of the lower storey includes one intermediate cross-rail and through diagonal braces.
On the left side, there is a raised divided boarded door leading to the threshing-floor, with a narrower divided door on the opposite right side. The left side also has three boarded loading doors, while the right side has one. The upper panels of the lower storey include diamond-shaped vents made of brick nogging. A lean-to with weatherboarded sides and a stone front is attached to the front gable. The rear part of the left side has been rebuilt in brick and features a window and a divided door. Attached to the rear of the barn is an early 19th-century two-storey brick extension that includes an external stone stair. The interior has not been inspected.
