Description
The cross base and cross in the churchyard of the Church of St Lawrence date from the 15th century and 1907, respectively. The structure is made of ashlar and features a square design. It has three steps leading up to a square plinth that transitions, through corner spurs, to an octagonal base for the shaft. The cross above is inscribed with 'To the memory of Philip Tatton Mainwaring 1907' and has an octagonal shaft that rises to a moulded plinth. This plinth supports a gabled canopy that covers the cross and two figures of saints. Additionally, a portion of the original shaft of the cross remains as the support for a sundial in the churchyard.
