Description

The Church of St Mary is a parish church, a large cruciform building made of sandstone, featuring an octagonal tower. It dates from the 14th century and exhibits mainly decorated style with some later perpendicular elements. The church underwent restoration in the mid-19th century, except for the tower, which was carried out by Sir Gilbert Scott. Inside, there are finely carved oak canopied choir stalls with notable misericords, an enriched stone pulpit, and several interesting monuments.
