Description
The gate piers and gate were designed in 1906 by C.F.A. Voysey for A. Heyworth. The gate piers are square and constructed of hammer-dressed red sandstone, topped with rounded flag capstones. The wooden gate itself has closely set square bars reinforced with a heavier near-diagonal brace. Characteristic Voysey ironwork is present in the form of long strap hinges and a catch, styled as a stylized clown’s face in profile with a long handle. A circular catch plate is located on the opposite pier.
